Palengke is an open air public market for just about anything you can imagine. From clothes to pots and pans, artwork to meat and vegetables, from music to jewelry, from tournament to cockfighting, and the very best restaurants – all can be found in the Filipino Palengke.
Palengke is derived from the Spanish word palenque –a pathway or cluster of tables set up at someplace of gathering such as a theatre, tournament, or market. It is and has always been part of Philippine culture. More than that, it is also a place of exchange – of ideas, talent, and creativity as well as goods and services.
In this hands-on workshop, students will experience the world of the Palengke.
