Guess Who’s Coming to Dinner.
A Celebration of Culture, Conversation, and Cuisine to Benefit CultureALL
Thank You to Our Sponsor
In the 1967 film Guess Who’s Coming To Dinner, Katharine Hepburn, Sidney Poitier and Spencer Tracy did a brilliant job of showing us all how awkward we can feel when we share a meal with people who may appear at first to be different than we are. Breaking bread with strangers is a wonderful opportunity to step outside of our everyday lives and into another person’s world.
Beginning the weekend of October 20-22, community leaders who believe in the power of diversity are hosting public and private gatherings all over the Des Moines metro area to bring people together across cultures to eat, drink, socialize, and forward the conversation of how we can work together to create a community where multiple perspectives are valued and where everyone feels welcome.
Guess Who’s Coming to Dinner gatherings will be happening all over town for the next few months. Big parties, small parties, cocktail parties, dinner parties, lunches, brunches, potlucks – it’s up to the host to decide!
For hosts who want to plan their gathering around a specific cultural theme – Bollywood Dance Party, Make-Your-Own Sushi Party – CultureALL will connect them with an Ambassador from that culture who can help make their party extra special – and culturally authentic!
Hosting a Gathering
Our Committee Chairs – Renee Hardman, Lonnetta Ragland, and Marcia Wanamaker – invite YOU to become part of this unique-community fundraiser.
Most of the gatherings will be private “by invitation only events,” a few of them will be open to the public. Join us for a
