Statement Regarding the Recent Events in Charlottesville

CultureALL’s Statement in Response to the Recent Events in Charlottesville, Virginia

August 18, 2017

Let’s Be Clear:

  • Racism and bigotry are unacceptable.
  • Notions of supremacy of any kind are disgraceful and damaging.
  • The beliefs and tactics of the KKK, neo-Nazis, white supremacists, and hate groups of any kind are unconscionable.

History teaches us the importance of speaking up at times like this when voices of hate seek to intimidate. Compassion and love are more powerful than the seductive rush of blame and hatred.

We choose Love.

regarding recent events in CharlottevilleWe – the widespread, far-reaching community of CultureALL – state clearly our deepest conviction:  Diversity is our Strength.

We condemn unequivocally the actions that shattered the peace in Charlottesville just as we condemn all similar expressions of hatred and violence wherever they happen in the world. We offer our prayers and condolences to all those who were injured – both physically and spiritually – and extend our deepest sympathy to the family and friends of the young woman whose life was cut short by a cowardly act of domestic terrorism.

Our world is becoming more diverse. At CultureALL, we embrace this. We strive every day to help people of every culture to better understand and appreciate all cultures. We lead by example demonstrating to our community and its children all the ways that being more inclusive enriches our lives. We are united in our belief that no matter how different we may be, we are all part of the same human family.

Diversity is our Strength.

Recent events en CharlottesvilleOur country has come so far toward truly becoming the kind of nation set down in its Founding documents – where the inalienable rights of “life, liberty, and the pursuit of happiness” are guaranteed to all people – equally. We continue to strive towards that “more perfect union,” but we have more work to do to become truly “united”. We cannot afford to move backward.

Diversity is our Strength.

Hatred will Not Divide us.

Love is our Foundation.
