Frequently Asked Questions

Are Tickets Still On Sale?

Yes!  Online ticket sales have ended, but you can purchase tickets at the door using cash, check, or credit card.

What Should You Wear?

Fun, casual party attire – feel free to wear something colorful.  If you like to dance, wear shoes that are comfortable for dancing.

Where Should You Park?

Park in the lot on the west side of the building – the entrance is on 39th Street.

What Should You Bring?

Just yourself and your best party spirit.  There are no physical tickets for this event.  If you want to being a copy of the e-mail confirming your ticket purchase that is fine, but it should not be necessary.

Where Should You Go When You Arrive?

Check-in begins at 6:30 PM. Enter through the West Entrance and look for the two Check-In Tables.  Your name (or the name of your host or ticket purchaser) will be on our guest list. When you check in, you will get a Brazilian Wish Bracelet as proof of admission – so if you need to leave the venue for any reason, you’ll be able to get back in.  The event is in the Cafeteria.  (For more information about what to expect at the event, see this article from our May Newsletter.)

What Can You Do at the Event?

There will be entertainment throughout the evening, beginning around 7 PM with the Brazilian 2wins.   You can also wander around, sample some Brazilian foods, explore the culture through our Discovery Experiences, and take photos at our Copacabana Selfie Station.   At the end of the night, join the Carnaval Dance Party – an instructor will be on hand to lead some popular Brazilian dances that even beginners will be able to master.

Will Alcohol Be Served?

Sorry, but because we are in a school building, alcohol is not permitted.  However, if you’re over 21 and would like to join us after the event, we’ll be keeping the party going downtown at The Garden Nightclub (112 SE 4th Street in Des Moines) where you can enjoy Brazilian-themed drinks and music.  Show your Brazilian Wish Bracelet at the door and you will be admitted FREE after 10 PM.

If there is something we did not cover here that you need to know, you can call Paula Hutton McKinley at 515-273-8569 ext. 2 or e-mail Paula@CultureALL.org,    However, the CultureALL office is closed on Saturdays.  We will check for phone messages, but the best way to reach us quickly  is to send us a message on Facebook.

We look forward to seeing you on Saturday!
