Cesar Chavez: American Civil Rights Leader

Learn about the life and work of the great American Civil Rights leader and founder of the United Farm Workers, Cesar E. Chavez, with CultureALL Ambassador Dawn Oropeza.

Workshop Description

CultureALL Ambassador Dawn Martinez Oropeza was honored to conserve and preserve the private office of Cesar Chavez with the assistance of the Smithsonian. Chavez, with an 8th grade education, woke the world about the plight of the farm workers who labor to bring food to all of our tables in the face of great violent opposition. The late Senator Robert Kennedy called him “one of the heroic figures of our time.”

Through this workshop, told through stories and images, students are encouraged to consider how much they can do with their lives, no matter what
