Congratulations, Hanna! We are proud to share that CultureALL Board Member Hanna Wolle is one of three finalists for a 2016 Central Iowa YP Creative of the Year Award!
Co-presented by the Young Professionals Connection and DM Juice Magazine, this award recognizes individuals who use creative ideas to spur changes within the immediately community and Central Iowa and who are committed to making Central Iowa a desirable place to live.
Hanna first became involved with CultureALL last year as a volunteer on the planning committee for the Bollywood Ball. She then became of our Board of Directors:
“I have enjoyed being part of this organization and supporting its efforts in supporting and advancing cultural understanding in our community. My mother is a Chinese immigrant, and while I was born and raised in Iowa, her culture had a huge impact on the way I view the world and relate to other people.
From the beginning, CultureALL’s mission aligned with my personal values, and it has been a great match ever since! The number one cause most important to me in Des Moines right now is advancing and supporting the arts, and beyond my involvement in this as a classically trained violinist, I am so grateful to be part of organizations like CultureALL that push the traditional boundaries of arts and culture in our community to make it a more attractive place to live, work, and play.”
A native of Des Moines, Iowa, Hanna began playing the violin at the age of four with her father, a classically-trained violist. She quickly emerged as a talented violinist, winning the Central Iowa Symphony Young Artist Competition at age ten. Hanna won a seat in the first violin section of the Des Moines Symphony at age fifteen, becoming one of the youngest violinist in the orchestra’s history.
Hanna pursued her academic interests in college and graduated from the University of Iowa in 2011 with degrees in Economics and Chinese. Upon graduation, Hanna returned to Des Moines to begin her career at The Principal Financial Group. She also launched her musical career, quickly establishing herself as a dynamic performer, chamber musician, and orchestral player in the Des Moines area. She continues to perform with the Des Moines Symphony and also founded a for-hire classical string quartet, Quartet 515. In her free time, Hanna is an active young professional in the Des Moines community. She is a 2016 graduate of the Greater Des Moines Leadership Institute. In addition to serving on the Board for CultureALL, she also sits on the Board of Directors for the Chinese Association of Iowa, and Civic Music Association, and volunteers with CelebrAsian, the largest Asian heritage festival in Central Iowa. She lives in Des Moines with her cat, Margo, and enjoys practicing yoga, going to the Farmer’s Market, and trying new recipes.
