7. Become A CultureALL Ambassador
If you are originally from another country – or have special knowledge of a particular culture, why not share your experiences with students and community members by becoming an Ambassador for CultureALL? You don’t have to be a teacher to be a CultureALL Ambassador. Even if you’re shy about speaking in public, we can help you develop the confidence and skills to share your culture with others. Click here to learn more.
8. Help Recruit A CultureALL Ambassador
If you know someone in the greater Des Moines community who might make a good CultureALL Ambassador, please let them know about our work in the community. Encourage them to contact us!
9. Host A House Party
A house party is a small event hosted in a private home as a “friendraiser” for CultureALL. We help you choose the theme for your party, connect you with a CultureALL Ambassador who can make a presentation and/or provide entertainment, and provide you with ideas and resources to help make your party a success. If you want to have an even greater impact, turn your house party into a mini-fundraiser and ask your guests to donate.
Want to learn more about hosting a house party? Send an e-mail to Paula Hutton McKinley, our Director of Community Engagement and she’ll help you get started. E-mail Paula.
10. Get Your Company Involved with CultureALL
Does your company need diversity training? CultureALL has programs to help both large companies and smaller businesses create a more inclusive work environment for their employees.
How about a Lunch & Learn event to help your company’s employees learn more about a particular culture or explore a cultural event like the upcoming Chinese New Year? Many of our school workshops can be adapted for adult audiences. Browse our workshops to explore the possibilities.
We are also working to develop partnerships with companies to support our programs and sponsor events like the Brazilian Ball. Sometimes that requires the help of someone within the company to be our advocate and help us in forming a partnership. Are you that person? Contact our Executive Director Sherry Gupta and find out more about how to help company build a relationship with CultureALL. E-mail Sherry
Contributions play a vital role in supporting our ongoing work in the community – particularly our education programs.
Our community’s growing diversity creates many challenges, especially in our schools. As students struggle to understand and accept the cultural differences among their classmates, conflicts can arise that disrupt learning. A program from CultureALL can make a huge difference in helping to defuse these tensions. But with more than 50,000 students in greater Des Moines – and near half a million in the state of Iowa, we cannot reach them without the support of generous people like you.
Help now by making a tax-deductible donation through our secure site at Network for Good.Find out more about other ways to donate – and download a donation form – here.
12. Become A Sponsor
Sponsorship is not just for corporations. As an individual donor, sponsorship allows you to direct your donation to CultureALL in a way that is meaningful to you. Sponsor a workshop for your favorite child’s classroom. Sponsor a Culture Day at your favorite school. Sponsor a workshop that shares your culture with a school or community group. Become a sponsor for a community event like CultureALL’s Brazilian Ball.
There are many options – and extra benefits – for being a sponsor, and your contribution is always tax-deductible. Contact our Executive Director Sherry Gupta and explore the possibilities! E-mail Sherry
If your New Year’s resolution is to give back some of your time to the community, please consider volunteering for CultureALL. Help at an event, take photos or video at one of our school programs, or become a Social Media Ambassador. There are many opportunities to help, and we are happy to help you find a volunteer opportunity that fits your interest, talents, and availability. You can start by using our contact form to let us know you’re interested. Contact Us Here.
Yes, really! If you shop on Amazon.com using AmazonSmile, the AmazonSmile Foundation will donate 0.5% of the purchase price to CultureALL.
It costs you nothing – just the time it take to make CultureALL your AmazonSmile selected charity, which you can do here: https://smile.amazon.com/ch/56-2524321
15. Review us at Great Nonprofits
If you’ve searched for CultureALL on a charity “watchdog” site like Charity Navigator, you’ll find that we don’t have a rating. That’s because some of these sites won’t review an organization with an annual budget of less than $1 million, and we’re not there – yet.
Great Nonprofits collects stories from people who really know an organization and its impact. Visit our page, and tell people why you think CultureALL is worth supporting.http://greatnonprofits.org/org/cultureall-inc
16. Spread the Word
How many people do you see in a day? Whether you’re attending a business meeting, talking with your child’s teacher, or just having coffee with friends, take a moment to ask them if they know about CultureALL. If they have never heard of us, tell them what you love about us – and send them to our website to learn more! Be an unofficial CultureALL Ambassador and advocate for us in the community!
17. Share This Post with Your Network
Let your friends know about CultureALL’s work in the community and why they should support it!
Last year, thanks to the support of people like you, CultureALL was able able to provide our unique cultural educational programs for over 30,000 community members in Iowa. Of these more than 26,000 were students. But with more than 50,000 students in greater Des Moines – and nearly half a million in the state of Iowa, we have so much more work to do. But we cannot reach them without the support of generous community members like you.
Connect, Communicate, and Contribute – and support our mission of helping communities to value our culturally rich diversity.
