Presented by

CultureALL Ambassador Kristie Burns will share samples of Arabic calligraphy and teach students which words in Arabic come from Spanish origins and which words in English come from Arabic origins. This workshop starts with two funny Arabic folktales about language and speech. Then, students learn about the Arabic language through the use of games and manipulatives (wooden shapes of Arabic letters and words), they learn how Arabic is written, the difference between colloquial and written language, and even what some American products look like in Arabic (like a Coca Cola bottle).
