African wedding traditions and rituals run the gamut of all celebrations. It is a changing culture which has adopted many other holidays and celebrations, but one that remains vibrant and diverse is the wedding union ceremony. This ceremony varies from tribe to tribe and region to region but has always been filled with so much meaning. In the culture of Ambassador Nancy Mwirotsi’s mother, this ceremony is called “Tumndo.” Students will learn about this tradition through acting, poetry, and song.
